Domaine Tessier has recently passed from Philippe to Simon and Marie farming 24 hectares in the Cheverny Region of the Loire. Porte Dorée, appelation Cour Cheverny AOC, presents a wonderful nose of quince, confit pear and apricot. This vintage from old vines produces a classic example of the romorantin grape - the rich indulgent notes in the wine are balanced out with fresh minerality and acidity. The vines are the oldest on the domain at 90 years on sandy clay soils with silex and ages 10 months in wooden vats followed by 5 months in cement. Porte Dorée pairs well with a powerful cheese like Beaufort.
