Gazzetta, Bianco Trilli 2024

Nestled in the hills above Bolsena in Northern Lazio is where Trish and the Gazzetta vineyards can be found. The area is found at a crossroads between the Mediterranean Sea, Apennine Mountains and one of the largest volcanic lakes in Europe. The influence of each is integral to forming this regions unique microclimate, which has a profound effect on the vineyards. The hot climate is regulated by equally unique airflow over the land formed by the warming and cooling of mountain and ocean breezes. Trish, alongside her partner Piero, tend to approximately 2 hectares just outside of Bolsena as well as olive, fig, cherry and pear trees and some more remote parcels further down the slope. Grapes are grown and harvested in harmony with the local biodiversity, and aged in variety of vessels before bottling with zero additives. Bianco Trilli 2024 is a blend of native varietals Trebbiano and Procanico from 40 year old vines in the Bolseno plots. Grapes are macerated on the skins for four days then fermented and aged in open vats for 6-8 months. This pours as a beautiful golden-coloured wine mirroring present flavours of mirabelle plum. A light maceration here gives the wine a good structure while keeping flavours soft overall. Bianco Trilli 2024 would pair well with lemon roasted chicken and grilled artichokes.
