Domaine Geschickt, Grand Cru Wineck Schlossberg 2022

Working biodynamically since 1998, this family-owned domaine has been run by Aurelie Fayolle and Arnaud Geschickt for the past 10 years. Found across 4 hectares in Ammerschwihr, the team work symbiotically with the environment, planting trees to increase ecological diversity and working the land with Iris, their mare. Grand Cru Wineck Schlossberg 2022 is 100% Riesling from the granitic Schlossberg plots on the southern slopes of the vineyard. Grapes are macerated on the skins for 30 days before ageing in foudres for 12 months. A zingy acidity comes through from the fresh granitic soils with an astringency reminiscent of scrumpy cider. Bolder notes of yellow fruit, pear and honey also come through, capped by a mineral dryness. Grand Cru Wineck Schlossberg 2022 would pair well with dandan noodles.
