Clovis Ochin, Amphora #1 2022

Despite only recently becoming a winemaker himself, Clovis Ochin has long been associated with the world of wine in Paris and beyond. After making waves in the natural wine scene with Yard, Clovis left for Spain to explore the warmer climes and unique terroirs of Catalunya. Taking an inspiration from the winemaking techniques of friends and neighbours Massimo and Antonella of Partida de Creus, his first vintages were released in 2022. Zero sulphites are added. Amphora #1 2022 is 100% Bobal from 65 year-old, pre-phylloxera vines. Fermentation and ageing take place in dame-jeanne for two years, then the wine spends one year in the bottle. Juicy and vibrant with an earthy nose and flavours of mountain herbs, sour cherries and sea salt. Amphora #1 2022 would pair well with seared tuna and escalivada.
