Ajola, Rosso Picnic 2022

Azienda Ajola, run by our friend Jacopo Battista, is 3.5 hectares of old vineyards that he has brought back to life far from additives and industrial farming. His wines are representatives of the wonderful terroir on the heights above Lago di Bolsena and the harmonious relationship with nature. Grapes are Ciliegiolo, Aleatico, Sangiovese and Merlot from old vines planted on sandy loam soils. A short skin maceration of a week before ageing in stainless steel. This light, bright and floral red might just be our favourite drop for spring. This wine has notes of rhubarb and cherry, blood orange and sage. Best enjoyed with your friends and a picnic! The Ajola, Rosso Picnic 2022 pairs well with crusty bread and butter with slices of Comté.
